What you will visit:
Concepcion Castle /The Center for Interpretation of the History of Cartagena
3,000 years of history can be found within the walls of Concepcion Castle, a structure composed of materials taken from ancient Roman buildings. Located on one of the five hills that guard the city, the center was built on the remains of the castle, more popularly known as "Castle of the Ducks" due to its population of feathered friends. The center is now an integral part of Torres Park and utilizes interactive, multimedia displays to showcase the history, heritage and culture of Cartagena.

Punic Wall
Almost 30 meters (98 feet) of the Punic Wall, dating back to the 3rd century BC, has been excavated, a visual reminder of the once great defensive fortification built by the Carthaginians as a bulwark against Roman attack. Learn the history through display boards and the museum, which houses the archaeological artifacts.

Roman Theater and Museum
Constructed between the 5th and 1st centuries BC, the Roman Theater lay undiscovered until 1988, when a full restoration took place. The newly discovered theater, which once welcomed 6,000 spectators in stadium seating carved from existing rock, is situated on a hillside affording panoramic views. The adjacent museum offers an in-depth look at the archaeological remains and the restoration process.

What you will see along the way:
Cartagena, Old City
Cartagena, one of the oldest cities in Spain, dates back to 223 BC. Its history is reflected in its eclectic mix of architecture. Most of the city's oldest monuments date from the days of the Roman Empire, but baroque, neoclassical and art nouveau structures are found here as well. Spanish Colonial buildings and an intriguing blend of church domes, clock towers and ocean views entice visitors who stroll its colorful streets, squares and waterfront.
