Your tour begins as you board your transportation for a scenic drive along the coastline to the town of La Boquilla, the mangrove area located on the eastern side of Cartagena. Here you'll board a canoe and relax as the captain poles you through the mangrove tunnels and across a shallow lake. This area is rich with waterfowl, so be sure to look for the colorful mangrove crabs and local and season birds, including Ibis, herons, pelicans and albatross. Wildlife sightings, while common, cannot be guaranteed.
After your mangrove tour, you'll return to the Old City. Your next stop is Las Bóvedas, once dungeons, now home to arts and crafts stalls. Begin your walking tour through the colonial city with your guide. You'll marvel at the well tended Spanish Colonial buildings and age-old fortifications around every corner, as well as the old church domes, the clock tower, symbol of the city and the city ocean views. Many local bars and restaurants in the old walled town's compact historic core, a UNESCO World Heritage site, remains its shining centerpiece. Your tour concludes with a walk back to your transportation and drive back to the pier.
