Gorka Izagirre Winery
Established in 2005, the family-owned winery stretches out over 40 hectares (98 acres) on the slopes of the Basque Mountains. During your tour, you'll learn how the Mother Nature's cool temperatures and fertile soil plus the winery's cutting edge technology and traditional methods have created a number of award-winning wines.
PHOTO OPPORTUNITIES
Set at the foothills of the Pyrenees, the Basque area is blessed with rolling hills and enchanting hamlets. And a stop at Archanda Mount offers an ideal perspective. Rising 251 meters (823 feet), it offers lovely views over Bilbao and the Basque Mountains that frame the Nervion River.
TASTINGS
Following the Gorka Izagirre Winery tour, you are invited to sample four popular Basque wines: G22 wine, a white wine with fruity notes of pears, apples, and grapefruit; 42 Zura wine, a white wine made from Hondarrabi Zerratia grapes with toasted notes; Ilun wine, a light red wine made from the Hondarrabi Beltza grape; and an aperitif. All accompanied by rich, savory Iberian ham with smoked Idiazabal cheese, and a sweet, herby Ronkal cheese.

Drink in the serene scenery of the Basque countryside during the brief 20 kilometer (12 mile) ride from Bilbao.
