WHAT YOU VISIT
Castro Urdiales Old Town Walking Tour
A Roman colony dating back 2,500 years, today's Castro Urdiales boasts modern-day vibes and a modernized, coastal lifestyle. But at its heart is the well-preserved Old Town, a jewel of architectural history that harkens back to the 12th and 13th centuries. Once you arrive, you'll embark on a walking tour along its winding cobblestone streets lined with medieval houses adorned with wooden balconies and past magnificent landmarks like the Town Hall Square, which serves as the gateway to the magnificent Church of Santa María de la Asunción, a treasure of Gothic architecture and a National Monument. Outside, you'll view photo-perfect flying buttresses, intricate gargoyles, and an adjacent medieval castle-lighthouse.
PHOTO OPPORTUNITIES
Enjoy an outside visit to the Guggenheim Museum of Modern Art, an architectural masterpiece. Covered in strategically placed 35,000 titanium tiles and pieces of glass, the innovative materials dazzle in the natural light.
