Moderate Activity

Your excursion begins at the pier as you board your air-conditioned motorcoach and drive along the estuary, passing through Bilbao's industrial outskirts en route to the Guggenheim Museum of Modern Art. Travel down the Gran Via, which reflects Bilbao's 19th-century mining and industrial prosperity, to the heart of the city, passing the Arriaga Theater and the Arenal Bridge.
Approaching in the distance, you can't miss this brilliant, curvaceous masterpiece of flowing titanium and limestone. The organic form gives a nod to Bilbao's heritage with its suggestion of maritime shapes, sails, and fish scales. Explore the Guggenheim's changing exhibits of modern art from its vast collection. Afterwards, you'll have time to visit the gift shop for souvenirs of this amazing museum.
Located on the right bank of the Nervion is Bilbao's Casco Viejo or the Old Quarter. This area was restored after a devastating flood in 1983. The district is home to chic boutiques, perfume stores, cafes and restaurants. Since many of the streets are pedestrian-only, you can easily explore on foot. Stroll past the 14th-century Gothic cathedral, the Arriaga Theater, the Plaza Nueva and the Bilbao Ria, which separates the old and the new city.
Your knowledgeable guide will inform you about how to enjoy the city during your free time. The Old Quarter can be reached either with a 20-minute walk or by Tram, from the Guggenheim Museum.
At the time designed by your guide , reboard your coach and return to your ship.
