What you will visit:
Usa Jingu Shrine
Located in Usa City, the Usa Jingu Shinto shrine is the central shrine of the more than 40,000 other "Hachimangu" shrines across Japan. Originally built in the 8th century, the current complex was constructed in the 19th century in the characteristic Hachiman style, two parallel structures with interconnected gabled roofs. The Usa Jingu Shrine has come to symbolize the split of Shinto from Buddhism in Japan and is designated as a National Treasure. You'll find important cultural artifacts here, a treat to behold.

Ajimu Budoshu Kobo (Ajimu Winery)
Nestled in Ajimu, a famous wine production area in Kyushu noted for its unusual topography of a misty basin, Ajimu Budoshu Kobo makes use of the area's unique climate, characterized by extreme temperature fluctuations which form grapes that yield wonderfully aromatic wines. Stroll through the vineyards surrounded by tranquil nature and mountains and take a tour of the factory. You can also visit the shops to purchase wines that are available only here. Under Japanese law, the purchase of alcoholic beverages for those under 20 years of age is not permitted.

What you will see along the way:
Relax on your drive to Usa City, gazing out on a collection of small towns and rural areas with picturesque natural landscapes.

Photo Opportunities:
Umi (sea) Jigoku
Photograph one of Beppu's most celebrated attractions, the Jigoku – or "Boiling Hells" hot springs, mysterious, steamy attractions resembling a scene from hell ("jigoku" means "hell"). The Umi (Sea) Jigoku is a beautiful aquamarine color, reminiscent of a tropical sea. This "sea hell" includes a special bonus, a delightful foot spa where you may soak your feet in the invigorating waters. (Please bring your own towel.)
