Princess Cruises Partnership - Bay Bush Action Walk
Moderate Activity
Be sure to read the Special Notes further down this page for important requirements and restriction.
Join Bay Bush Action Group for a short guided forest walk through the Opua Forest at the entrance the Paihia Lookout Track and discover the important conservation work supported by Princess Cruises to remove introduced pests and help the forest thrive. Stroll along a boardwalk across a wetland, before following a track beside a freshwater stream through native forest. Along the way, learn about the wetland, freshwater, and native forest ecosystems, and the unique species that inhabit them - including native kauri trees and kiwi. Listen for native birds, spot freshwater fish and invertebrates, and discover how native plants were traditionally used. Learn how Aotearoa/New Zealand evolved in isolation over millions of years and how its unique native species (taonga) adapted to this environment. The tour includes a brief stop in Paihia for guests who wish to remain in town, and all profits from the tour go to Bay Bush Action Group to continue their important work.
