WHAT YOU VISIT
Kayaking the Waterways of Waitangi
You'll depart the Waitangi pier with your kayaking guide and walk across the Waitangi Bridge to your waiting kayak. A safety briefing and basic paddling instructions will be provided at the departure site. Then, you'll don your gear, push off into the water and navigate through the Waitangi Estuary's sheltered waters. In the mangrove forest you'll paddle past woody vegetation, gnarled tree trunks, mangrove trees and ferns that create leafy green tunnels. Nearly destroyed in the early years of British settlement, today the mangroves have protected status. More fun awaits as you continue to glide to Haruru Waterfall and enjoy a refreshing swim at Waitangi Beach.
