WHAT YOU VISIT
National Archeological Museum of Aruba
Ten thousand indigenous artifacts dating from as far back as 2,500 B.C. are carefully preserved in the museum's collections and offer a glimpse into the world of the people who lived on the island before European settlers arrived in 1499.

PHOTO OPPORTUNITIES
Fort Zoutman, built by the Dutch in 1798, was intended to provide defense against attacking enemies or pirates. Attached to the fort is the photogenic Willem III Tower, the tallest and best-preserved part of the fort. Added in 1868, the tower functioned as a lighthouse, before it was retired in 1963. But the cannons outside the fort serve as a reminder of the structure's original defensive purpose. And you can't miss the Caribbean-blue horse statues located throughout downtown Oranjestad. Eight life-sized sculptures symbolize the days when Aruba had no docks and trading ships anchored offshore the horses were forced to jump from the deck into the water and swim to shore.

SNACKS
During your downtown tour, you'll visit a local family-owned establishment and sample traditional snacks such as "pastechi," fried dough stuffed with meat and cheese and a "kroket," a savory local favorite deep-fried with a rich, creamy filling. A stop at one of downtown Oranjestad's popular hotspots including a tasting of local beer.

SHOPPING
Following the tour, you can enjoy time to shop at your leisure. Look for duty-free luxury goods, handmade crafts, aloe vera products, handmade jewelry and Dutch cheeses.

WHAT YOU SEE ALONG THE WAY
