WHAT YOU VISIT
Trollstigen (Troll Road)
Named for the trolls once believed to roam through the mountains of Trollstigen every night and turned to stone when they are hit by sunlight each morning, the 34-mile-long road snakes and climbs its way up, up, up along steep mountainsides and down eleven hairpin turns to the Isterdalen Valley, which stretches out below. Some spots of the road are cut into the mountain or built on top of stone walls. This spectacular scenic drive takes you along the shoreline of the Romsdalsfjord and through quaint villages, with photo stops where you can capture its mesmerizing beauty. On your return drive, you'll stop at the Troll Wall; at 3,608 feet, it's the tallest vertical rock face in Europe.

PHOTO OPPORTUNITY
Feel the thrill and excitement as you stop and look out over the village of Tresfjord, the northernmost part of western Norway. Another photo op awaits at the magnificent Gudbrand Gorge, with its foaming waterfall deep below.

LUNCH
A Norwegian buffet lunch of hot and cold dishes and a low-alcohol beer or soft drink in the tiny hamlet of Valldal affords picturesque views of alpine mountains and steep, green hills.

WHAT YOU SEE ALONG THE WAY
Sit back and relax as this spectacular scenic drive takes you along the Romsdalsfjord, which turns into the Innfjord and continues up the Skorge Valley to orskogfjellet mountain plateau. Descend to the Storfjord and across a mountain pass to the Norddalsfjord and the village of Valldal.
