Cruise the Kagerplassen
Green Heart, "Groene Hart," in Dutch, is renowned for its peat bogs, canals and lush green fields. Most of the area lies beneath sea level, and is protected by numerous dikes and windmills. Stretching out 800 square kilometers (308 square miles), Green Heart is one of the most beautiful and largest areas in Green Heart is the picturesque Kagerplassen, a small lake system that includes ten lakes connected by canals, islands, polders and waterways. Get acquainted with this bucolic part of Holland with a cruise down this popular waterway, which boasts the most mills and cheese-making farms in the Netherlands.
