What you will visit:
Private Van on Your Own
Explore Puerto Plata in the comfort of a private van, with a local English-speaking host, bottled water, and a map of the city to help you create an itinerary tailored to your interests. Known for its sparkling beaches and rich history, Puerto Plata was first visited by Christopher Columbus during his voyage to the island of Hispaniola in 1492. Founded in 1496, it developed into an important Caribbean port and trading center. Fortaleza San Felipe, one of the oldest colonial fortresses in the Americas, was built in the 16th century to protect the city from pirates and still overlooks the waterfront today. Puerto Plata's historic center features Victorian architecture, cultural museums, a scenic seaside promenade, beautiful beaches, and an abundance of restaurants and shops
What you will see along the way:
Because this is a private, customizable experience, no two tours are exactly alike. Whether you prefer scenic coastal drives, historic districts, local markets, beaches, cultural attractions, or places to relax and dine, your guide will tailor the route to match your interests and the time available, creating a personalized day in Puerto Plata.
