Your tour begins in Salerno where you'll board an air-conditioned motorcoach for a short drive to Salerno harbor where a motorboay will take you on a scenic 60-minute cruise along the gorgeous Amalfi coastline. It's an ideal photo opportunity for shots of the rocky outcroppings and verdant grottos dotting the cliffs. Upon arrival in Amalfi, you'll have 60 minutes of free time to explore the town or visit the Amalfi Cathedral. Church admission is extra and guests are asked to respect local custom and dress conservatively. (No bare shoulders or shorts and mini skirts.)
The Amalfi Cathedral is a striking structure with 62 steps leading to its entrance. Its façade is Arabic-influenced Romanesque with a bold mix of stripes, arches, mosaics and textures. The bell tower and cupola are decorated with green and yellow tiles. The heavenly Cloister of Paradise is home to the tombs of Amalfi's wealthy merchants and features Moorish styling in white marble. Take a stroll around the courtyard and see its lovely Mediterranean garden as well as the ancient artworks that grace the walkways. The cloister leads into the Basilica of the Crucifix where you can see some amazing frescoes. The cathedral's museum and treasury is located in the basilica. The Crypt of St. Andrew is located in an altar decorated with beautiful Baroque murals dating from 1660.
Upon return in Salerno, you'll board a motorcoach for a 45-minute drive to Pompeii where lunch will be served at a local restaurant or hotel. Enjoy an authentic meal using fresh, seasonal ingredients of the Campania region.
This UNESCO World Heritage Site uncovers excavations of a lost city buried deep beneath the ash when Mt. Vesuvius violently erupted in 79 AD. It's a monumental natural disaster that entombed the city and its inhabitants, yet preserved a moment in time more than 2,000 years ago. Explore the grounds of this excavated city as your knowledgeable guide discusses the remarkably preserved remains that hint at daily life-their customs, buildings and cuisine. Pompeii was known as a vacation community for high society before the eruption; it had a forum, amphitheater, gymnasium, shops and an aqueduct that delivered water for irrigation, fountains and private baths. Some of the ruins are remarkably preserved with elaborately detailed mosaics and colorful frescoes decorating the interiors of wealthy homeowners' villas.
Following the visit of Pompeii, you'll visit a cameo factory. See where artisans apply skills handed down for generations, intricately carving seashell or coral into beautiful jewelry-true works of art, and beautiful keepsake souvenirs.
Your tour comes to its completion back in Salerno after a 45-minute drive where your ship is docked and awaiting your return.

Special Notes
This tour will not operate in December.
The drive from Salerno to Pompeii takes approximately 45 minutes.
Passengers who suffer from motion sickness should take this into consideration.
For security reasons, it is forbidden to enter inside Pompeii excavations with big bags, backpacks or trolleys. Please be aware that, since lockers are not available, it is recommended to leave them inside the coach.
In case of bad weather, rough seas, or operational restrictions due to overcrowding at the ports of Amalfi or Salerno, the cruise between Amalfi and Salerno may be cancelled and the tour will proceed entirely by coach. In this case, the visit to Amalfi will be replaced with an alternative village on the Amalfi Coast (such as Maiori, Minori or Vietri sul Mare).
During the navigation along the Amalfi Coast, commentary will be provided by the guide through audio headsets. However, due to weather conditions, wind, sea conditions, and the natural engine noise of the motorboat, explanations may not always be clearly audible to all guests. While every effort is made to ensure the best possible listening experience, these factors are beyond our control and may occasionally affect the quality of the audio during the coastal crossing. The boat offers both indoor and outdoor seating. The vessel used may vary in size and capacity.Depending on the size of the group and seating arrangements, you may be seated either inside or outside.
