For over 2,000 years, Alta's icy cold waters have served up some of the freshest seafood in the world. Now's your chance to join in the classic winter experience of ice fishing. Designed for a small group of ten guests, you will receive instructions in the equipment. Then, you'll put on your snowshoes and walk with your guide through a pine forest to an idyllic lake near Camp Aurora. Once at the lake, holes will be drilled in the ice and you can sit in a comfortable chair or lie on a reindeer skin and drop your line. Marvel at the awesome splendor that surrounds you while sipping on a warm drink.
In Alta's "polar night," the stars shine bright. If the skies are clear, you'll see the same celestial bodies the Vikings used to guide them at sea. And, of course, if you're lucky, the shimmering lights of the Aurora Borealis will fill the sky; if not, there's always your surroundings illuminated by the snow.
After you've caught "the big one," it'll be barbecued and served up for lunch with all the trimmings including cake.
