What you will visit:
Aarhus Cathedral
For over 800 years, this graceful cathedral, the longest and tallest in Denmark, has dominated the skyline of Aarhus. Dedicated to the patron saint of sailors, St. Clemens, its construction was begun in the Romanesque style in 1201, and it was rebuilt in the Gothic style between 1450 and 1520, including the addition of a magnificent altar piece designed by Bernt Notke, after the original cathedral was destroyed by fire in 1330. This exquisite church boasts more frescoes than any other church in Denmark as well as the largest stained-glass window in the country.
Natural History Museum
Nominated as one of the best museums for children in Aarhus, the extensive Natural History Museum takes guests back in time through a series of galleries and interactive displays that feature the animals, landscapes, and biology of Denmark's flora and fauna. In this educational and thoroughly entertaining tour, you will stand face to face with a walrus, assemble a sheep skeleton, jump as a long as a puma and explore the garden. Take a fascinating journey back 10,000 years to the time of the Ice Age and explore the intricate balance of life as we know it in the Global Backyard exhibit.
