Bruges is a bustling port and is known as the 'Venice of the North,' thanks to a network of beautiful canals that run through this historic and vibrant city.
Your day trip starts with a relaxing bus ride through the colorful Flemish countryside before you enjoy an entertaining walk through the cobbled streets of Bruges, accompanied by your knowledgeable guide.
Uncover the real city as you stroll through the bustling marketplace, complete with its centuries-old Guild Halls, before viewing the most popular landmark in Bruges, the Belfry. Incredibly, this bell tower still employs a full-time bell-ringer to maintain its 48 bells. (exterior view only)
You will also be able to view the Town Hall and the Romanesque Basilica of the Holy Blood, a 12th-century Gothic building that is situated in lively Burg Square. (exterior views only)
Next is a photo stop of the Church of Our Lady, a 13th-century chapel that is home to an array of art treasures, including Michelangelo's incredible white marble sculpture, "Madonna and Child." (exterior view only)
After taking many pictures of these unique landmarks, you will then be able to experience this amazing city from a different perspective: from a comfortable canal boat. Sit back and enjoy this wonderful 30-minute cruise along the city's romantic canals, passing by many more historic buildings.
Once you are back on dry land, you will have plenty of time to discover Bruges at your own pace. Your guide will lead you to the Walplein, a quaint, cobbled square that features exquisite architecture, tall trees and benches. Enjoy browsing the shops and boutiques here, and look out for some of the country's many unique products such as Belgian chocolate, tapestries and Flemish lace.
You will also have plenty of time to find a cafe or restaurant for lunch before boarding the bus at the end of the day for the relaxing journey back to the port at Zeebrugge.
