Your friendly, knowledgeable guide will entertain you with stories of the filming, often from first-hand experience, and talk about the history that has shaped Wellington as we know it. Then tuck in to a delicious lunch fit for a Hobbit to recharge the batteries before visiting the world renowned Weta Workshop. Venture behind-the-scenes to see how not only Lord of the Rings but around 300 other movies were brought to life. Featuring genuine movie props and an expert guide we share the secrets of how the small suburb of Miramar has become a hub of international filmmaking. You'll finish the day at Mt Victoria in a picturesque forest where the Hobbits' journey began. See the shortcut to mushrooms, the iconic "Get off the Road!" scene, and more before stopping at the fantastic Mt Victoria Lookout, a 360-degree panorama that shows Wellington in all its splendour.
