Board your motorcoach and drive south and west to the Adachi Museum of Art in Yasugi. Founded in 1970, the Museum features one of the finest modern gardens in Japan and a collection of over 1,000 Japanese paintings from 1912 on. The Museum boasts a large number of works by Yokoyama Taikan, considered one of the major figures in Japanese modern art.

Drive to Matsue, a city of canals located on an isthmus between Lakes Shinji and Nakaumi. Explore Matsue Castle, one of the oldest castles in Japan and called the 'plover castle.' The black castle with the six-story donjon sits atop a stone foundation and features black wooden walls beneath its gables. The castle dates to the early years of the Edo Period. The fief was ruled for 20 generations by a clan of the Tokugawa family, Japan's shoguns from 1603 to 1868.

After enjoying Japanese lunch, board a sightseeing boat for a scenic cruise through Matsue's many canals, as you take in views of the city and cruise under the bridges.

Board your coach for the return to the ship, enjoying views of Lake Shinji along the way.
