One of the more laid-back tours of Reunion, a small island that is just 128 miles in circumference, you will enjoy exploring a handful of its most beautiful locations. Shoppers will also enjoy the chance to browse the stores in St. Denis as the end of this enjoyable day, which starts when your guide greets you warmly at the pier.

After you have boarded the bus, you will head out of Pointe de Galets, and drive to the charming town of St. Andre, passing the east coast's stunning landscape, which boasts lush, sugarcane fields.

The vanilla plantation is located in the city center of St. Andre, and here, you will learn how vanilla essence, a widely used food flavoring, is produced. Vanilla has been a marketable commodity here since 1841, when a young slave, called Edmond Albius, discovered how to pollinate the flower of the vanilla orchid by hand. Demand grew and his methods are still used today. Once you have toured the house, you be able to browse the shop and purchase vanilla products to take home.

The next part of your journey, to the island's charming capital St. Denis, takes you via a spectacular photo-stop, the Bride's Veil waterfall in the Salazie region. You will see for yourself how the waterfall gets its name from the way the water cascades down in glittering tiers.

Climbing back on to the bus, your relaxing tour continues, as you head to St. Denis, the island's colonial capital, for a chance to browse a local souvenir shop for keepsakes.

Your bus ride back to the pier is a lovely way to reflect on the memories you have made, and soak up the beauty of this truly unique island.
