WHAT YOU VISIT
Cultural Life of the Locals
Available between December and June, this adventure is designed for those who are looking to experience the local daily life and to explore the countryside around Manzanillo. Your first stop is the Cuyutlan Salt Flats. Though salt was used in preservation and flavoring, 16th century Spaniards used salt in processing silver. Today, you'll join modern "salineros" or salt workers and harvest salt with a special tool. Next, you'll travel to a sour lime or papaya plantation for a lesson in cultivation and a sampling. Then, you'll tour a clay brick factory and learn how this ancient process is being used in modern-day construction.
PHOTO OPPORTUNITY
From the hands-on harvesting of salt to the scenic countryside, your camera will be working overtime!
SNACKS
Before returning to the pier, you'll head to a local beach restaurant for a light snack and refreshments.
WHAT YOU SEE ALONG THE WAY
