Spectacular nature trails showcase incredibly dense and lush natural vegetation and a wide variety of animal life including sloths, howler monkeys, white-faced capuchin monkeys, and more, plus an abundance of birdlife. A naturalist guide will share relevant information about the flora and fauna. Hiking shoes are advised, as the trails are unpaved and uneven.
Ara Manzanillo
The great green macaw is protected and rehabilitated at this nonprofit organization dedicated to conservation efforts since 2009. Its mission is to reintroduce rescued great green macaws, classified as a critically endangered species, into the wild. The Manzanillo field station, located 328 feet (100 meters) above sea level, is an excellent lookout point with spectacular views of the sea and the rainforest. Your guide will point out the great green macaws, flying free, as well as three different species of toucans and other colorful birdlife.
