WHAT YOU VISIT
Lava Flows by Land & Sea: the Tajogaite Experience
On September 19, 2021, the volcano now known as Tajogaite erupted and for 85 days, lava eked its way over 1,200 hectares (2.900 acres) of land, devouring towns, dramatically expanded the island's coastline and created over a dozen new beaches. For sea-side views of the volcano's destruction, you'll board the comfortable catamaran Fancy II for a relaxing one-hour cruise. Back on land, the tour continues with a scenic drive across lava flows and affected areas, offering views of the powerful forces that reshaped the island. The eruption made world-wide news and a stop at Tajuya Square offers a look at the key location for international broadcasts.
