WHAT YOU VISIT
Discover Gran Canaria by 4x4 vehicle
A perfect blend of human activity and natural beauty, Gran Canaria offers the curious traveler plenty of breathtaking highlights to admire. Designed for small groups, this get-acquainted tour is ideal for first-time visitors. You'll travel far beyond the reach of traditional tour buses in brand-new, high-end hybrid 4x4 vehicles with expert narration along the way. From Las Palmas, you'll travel safari-style into the mountainous region to the quaint village of Teror whose roots go back to 1481. Stroll its cobblestone streets dotted with colonial architecture and traditional balconies before continuing on to Cruz de Tejeda where breathtaking panoramic views await. Following a stop for photos you'll head to the Pico de las Nieves, the highest point on the island, where you'll enjoy stunning vistas across a rugged volcanic terrain including the Pico de las Nieves volcano. The road less traveled takes you on to the peaceful villages of Tunte and Santa Lucía, where you'll have free time to soak up local culture, explore historic streets, and experience authentic Canarian life.
PHOTO OPPORTUNITIES
On the main plaza in the town of Teror stands the neoclassic Basilica de la Virgen del Pino (Madonna of the Pine). Outside, ten gargoyles stand guard on the sides of the church; step inside and discover the richly clothed, wooden carved figure of the Virgin Mary plus works of art from the 16th to 20th centuries (turn off your camera's flash to protect the artwork).
SHOPPING
While visiting Santa Lucía, you can browse for hand-painted, dark-toned pottery; hand-polished jewelry crafted from the island's lava rocks; high-quality extra virgin olive oil and aloe vera products.
WHAT YOU SEE ALONG THE WAY
As your driver blazes a trail around the island, you'll enjoy a variety of stunning landscapes with scenic views of lush vegetation, pine forests, rugged mountain gorges and volcanic valleys.
