What you will visit:

Wellington Cable Car
Up and away on the Wellington Cable Car, a beloved attraction for visitors and locals alike. For over 100 years, this five-minute vertical climb aboard a funicular has been taking passengers over 390 feet in the air and travelling a length of 2,000 feet per trip. Spectacular views over the city, rolling hills and Wellington's harbor can be found at the summit. Time permitting, pop into the Cable Car Museum, home to two of the original grip cars and the original winding machinery. Don't forget your camera!

Zealandia: Karori Wildlife Sanctuary
Just minutes from downtown Wellington yet worlds away from everyday life, Zealandia, a 550-acre interactive eco-sanctuary, is nestled within a lush valley and protected by a five-mile predator-proof fence. Created with the mission to restore Wellington's forest and freshwater ecosystems to their pristine state, it is centered on a sparkling reservoir, home to some of New Zealand's rarest and most exotic wildlife. Locals often refer to Zealandia as their own "Jurassic Park" because it's the only place in mainland New Zealand where you can see the famous "living fossil," the tuatara. View some of New Zealand's rarest species, such as the saddleback and hihi birds back from the brink of extinction; the giant weta, one of the biggest insects in the world; and the country's national mascot, the little spotted kiwi, as you follow in the footsteps of New Zealand's natural history.

What you will see along the way:
A scenic drive takes you through the heart of Wellington, an opportunity to gaze out the window on a host of the city's downtown sites, such as the impressive 112-year-old Wellington Town Hall, the innovative City Gallery, and famed Cuba Street, noted for its eclectic mix of establishments and a Registered Historic Area. As your ride the cable car, enjoy Wellington's prettiest views, including rolling hills, Te Whanganui-a-Tara (the Maori name for the Wellington Harbour), the cityscape and beyond.

Special Notes:

Due to the nature of the park wildlife sightings cannot be guaranteed. Bring a hat, light jacket and adequate sun protection.
