What you will visit:

The Museum of New Zealand Te Papa Tongarewa
The country's national museum is brimming with fascinating exhibits that detail New Zealand's history. The Te Papa Tongarewa, which means "the place of treasures of this land," is situated on the waterfront. Once inside this impressive, contemporary building, peruse six levels highlighting art and artifacts from the Maori people, plus enter the colorful marae (meeting house), showcasing magnificent contemporary Maori art and design. There are displays focused on natural history and the environment, as well as the remains of the world's largest colossal squid-over 14 feet long. History buffs won't want to miss the Gallipoli exhibition, with life-sized model soldiers, documenting New Zealand's role in WWI's infamous Gallipoli campaign against the Ottoman Empire.

Wellington Driving Tour
New Zealand's capital city, the southernmost city on North Island and built around a horseshoe-shaped peninsula, showcases a special blend of heritage buildings, museums and galleries. Surrounded by hilly terrain and with a stunning natural harbor, Wellington boasts a lively seaside atmosphere, and almost every architectural style is represented on its charming streets. From modernist to Victorian, each building has its own style. Natural attractions like Mount Victoria and the Botanical Gardens add beauty to the self-proclaimed "coolest little capital in the world," which combines the culture of the big city with small-town charm.

What you will see along the way:
Begin with a scenic drive along Oriental Bay before you venture inland and make your way to the top of Mt. Victoria. Proceed along Bowen Street to Wellington's impressive Parliament Buildings. Continue past the blooming Botanical Garden that houses the award-winning Lady Norwood Rose Garden and past the Wellington Cathedral before arriving at the former cathedral, Old St. Paul's. Return to the ship by way of Wellington's central business district.

Photo Opportunity:

From the top of Mt. Victoria, you'll be treated to a magnificent panoramic view of the city and harbor. During your drive, you'll see much of the city's varied architecture, including the government complex and the Parliament House, an Edwardian neo-classical building with a unique beehive design.
