Discover Mdina, the oldest city on the island of Malta, on your own on this half-day transfer excursion that is perfect for independent travelers. After a pleasant 30-minute drive, you'll arrive at a place where time stands still. From a central location, stroll through the city's narrow and silent streets, evoking another place in time. Mdina's history dates back to prehistoric times, and the town is relatively untouched by modern development. Among its labyrinth of cobbled streets, you'll find stunning medieval architecture, including the spectacular St. Paul's Cathedral with its golden-hued stone dating to the 15th and 16th centuries, and the grand Palazzo Falson, with lavishly appointed rooms and small curio museum. Other highlights include the Roman catacombs, and petite artisan shops, tea shops and corner cafes, perfect for sampling the region's most popular snack, the pastizzi, a fluffy pastry stuffed with cheese. At the designated time, return to the motorcoach for the journey back to port.
