WHAT YOU VISIT
White Island Helicopter Ride
Soar over some of the country's most mystical and dramatic landscapes with a helicopter flight over White Island. Located 32 miles off the Bay of Plenty coastline in the Pacific Ocean, White Island is a link in a chain of volcanoes called the Pacific Ring of Fire. As your helicopter nears the island, you'll see the plume of white gas cloud that is ever-present. Upon closer inspection you'll see that a large number of small eruptions over the last 150,000 years has scarred the island with crater lake formations, steaming craters, sulphur chambers and roaring fumaroles.

PHOTO OPPORTUNITY
For the comfort of your helicopter seat, you can see an otherworldly landscape with bubbling pits of mud, hot volcanic streams and the amazing lake of steaming acid. The vivid hues of yellow and orange resulting from the abundant sulphur on the island make it a photographer's dream.

WHAT YOU SEE ALONG THE WAY
On the return flight to the helipad, be sure to keep your eyes open for schools of fish, dolphins, whales and other marine life.
