What you will visit:
Ladera Resort
The remarkable Ladera, the first Caribbean hotel to be rated #1 by Conde Nast Traveler© magazine was once part of Rabot Estate, one of Soufriere's oldest and most famous cocoa plantations. In 1982, it was transformed into the unique resort it is today. Ladera has welcomed Oprah, Harrison Ford, Denzel Washington and many others who share an appreciation for the best. The resort is famous for its intimate setting as well as its commanding view of the twin Pitons, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Covered in lush green vegetation, the peaks seem to rise straight from the blue waters of Piton Bay. Lunch is served on the property, and a tour of this spectacular haven is offered.
Catamaran Cruise on Marigot Bay
A catamaran cruise into Marigot Bay overlooks white sands, swaying palms, turquoise waters and verdant green hillsides, an area so stunning author James Michener once called it "the most beautiful bay in the Caribbean." As the catamaran makes its way around the bay, you'll have the chance to dive into the inviting water.
What you will see along the way:
Soufriere
You'll travel through the rolling countryside and mountains of St. Lucia's lush western coast as the winding road takes you through small villages to the town of Soufriere. Established by the French in 1746, Soufriere is the oldest town in St. Lucia and the reputed birthplace of Napoleon's Empress Josephine de Beauharnais. Colorful wooden storefronts and colonial buildings lend a special ambience to this seaside town. Your destination is stunning Ladera Resort.
Pitons
A UNESCO World Heritage Site, and the most photographed landmark on the island, the Pitons are two volcanic plugs. The larger one is called Gros Piton, the smaller is Petit Piton, and they are connected by the Piton Mitan ridge. Gros Piton rises to 786 meters (2,619 feet) and is the second highest peak on St. Lucia.
Lunch:
Upon arrival at Ladera Resort, you'll be greeted with a warm welcome and a cocktail, a perfect prelude for your gourmet lunch at the award-winning Dasheene Restaurant, which overlooks the majestic Pitons. A renowned executive chef will prepare freshly caught fish or your choice of either chicken or beef, presented in a style of casual elegance.
On the three-hour-long catamaran cruise, the friendly crew serves up rum punch and other refreshments.
Special Notes:
The road to Soufriere is very winding and those persons prone to motion sickness should take any necessary medication required prior to the excursion. On the return journey to Castries there maybe sections of road with very steep inclines. When leaving Soufriere, the buses may temporarily turn off the air-conditioning to provide additional power to climb these roads. At Ladera Resort, time and weather permitting, you may have the chance for a brief overview of the property. There are two sets of 10 steps and an inclined walkway to navigate at the resort.Child Price:
