WHAT YOU VISIT
- Fairview Great House and Botanical Gardens
Situated on three-and-a-half acres, this early 18th century estate gives you a sense of life in a more genteel era. Upon arrival, you'll be ushered into the kitchen and watch a wonderfully talented chef prepare tantalizing dishes. As the ingredients are put together, the historian cook will discuss the story of these regional foods, share old and new recipes, and talk about the development of delicious dishes that combine Old and New World ingredients with African, European and Indian cooking methods.

Following lunch, you can stroll through the colonial home, which includes a well-appointed living room, an elegant gentleman's study, dining room with the table set for a delicious West Indian dinner, and an impressive master bedroom with stunning island vistas.

PHOTO OPPORTUNITY
Step across a stone bridge that leads from the rear veranda to the estate's stunning tropical Botanical Garden. As you walk the sun dappled grounds of the garden you'll find yourself enveloped by a wide variety of fruit trees, palms, shrubs and flowering plants.

LUNCH
After the cooking demonstration, you'll get to taste Caribbean delights such as Creole fish in tomato broth and jerked pork loin, island rice and peas, green banana escovitch, and for dessert, coconut bread pudding with rum and brown sugar glaze.

SHOPPING
Located in the stone cellar, the gift shop offers local pottery, art and other unique gifts.

WHAT YOU SEE ALONG THE WAY
Your route takes you through the capital of Basseterre and into the heart of the island.
