What you will visit:
Basseterre Scenic Drive
This charming capital of the Federation of Saint Kitts and Nevis is one of the oldest towns in the Eastern Caribbean. Founded in 1627 by the French, it served as the capital of the French colony of St. Christophe, eventually growing into a vibrant merchant port. Today, its colonial past is evident in the city's many restored Victorian and Georgian gingerbread buildings.
Cockleshell Beach
Oversized wooden decks bring visitors to the shoreline of this sunny beach with calm, inviting waters suitable for swimming. The adjacent Spice Mill Bar & Restaurant offers beverages and authentic Caribbean fare for purchase.
What you will see along the way:
As you drive through town, you'll traverse the tourist and residential areas of Basseterre. Admire the local architecture as your guide points out landmarks like Basseterre's Independence Square, St. George's Anglican Church, the Berkeley Memorial, and the Queen Victoria Statue Roundabout. From Timothy Hill, enjoy breathtaking views of rolling hills, azure waters and the natural landscape. Pass the Royal St. Kitts Golf Course and a few resort accommodations along the way to the beach.
Photo Opportunity:
Timothy Hill Lookout
Keep your camera handy for this spectacular viewpoint with panoramic views of the sparkling Atlantic Ocean where it meets the Caribbean Sea. You'll see lush, green foliage and the gently sloping hills of the southeast peninsula of St. Kitts from your vantage point above.
