Your memorable day exploring Split starts upon arrival at the pier, for a two-hour walking tour around his extraordinary city.
Although the walking throughout the day is moderate, make sure your shoes are comfortable and that sunscreen is liberally applied as your Guide chaperones you on this first part of the day which starts at Diocletian's Palace.

Located in the heart of Old Split, this 4th century palace, built by the Roman Emperor Diocletian in preparation for his retirement in 305 AD, is a maze of narrow cobbled lanes and large open courtyards that feature striking stone columns. The palace has a colorful history: after the destruction of Salona in the 7th century, refugees made their home here in the palace which even today features fortified walls, underground rooms and watchtowers.

Built from local white limestone and Egyptian granite, the Palace is gives access to Diocletian's mausoleum in St Dominus's Cathedral next door. You will be enthralled by this incredible building, named after Saint Duje the patron saint of Split, which features a glorious bell-tower that was constructed in 1100AD. Gaze upon the original sacral objects, paintings and manuscripts and if you're feeling energetic, climb the stairs for amazing views of the city and Adriatic sea.

There will also be time to tour The Temple of Jupiter, a 4th century structure, which features wonderful stone columns, before exploring the People's Square and Old Town, and it's many exciting sights and sounds.

At this point of the day you will have 45 minutes of free time to browse the stalls in the open air market for souvenirs or crafts, or linger on Marmontova Street, the marble-paved shopping district, with it's prestigious high end shops and smattering of cafes.
Then it's back to the motorcoach for the quick 10 minute transfer to the Mestrovic Gallery. Ivan Mestrovic is considered Croatia's greatest sculptor and today, his former estate - an elegant neo-classical villa designed by Mestrovic himself in the 1930's - is home to a museum and gallery.

After enjoying the192 sculptures as well as drawings, paintings and architectural plans, it's time for a leisurely drive through the pine-forests to Radman's Mills which sits by the rolling Cetina River. Look out for the giant old mill wheels and ancient sun dial while you enjoy a leisurely hour-long table service lunch at a wonderful restaurant that offers many regional specialities.

Enjoy some time after lunch to wander through the mill, along the river and beautiful surrounding areas before heading back to the motorcoach for your journey home, having made wonderful new memories and friends.
