Takshanuk Mountain Trail by 4x4 & Lodge Meal

The journey begins with a scenic 45-minute cruise aboard a high-speed catamaran along North America's longest and deepest fjord to Haines. Enjoy spectacular views of waterfalls and ice-sculpted peaks as your guide provides informative commentary and points out marine wildlife.

A short transfer brings you to the Takshanuk ("land of falling waters") trailhead. Learn how to operate your automatic-transmission, four-wheel-drive vehicle. The mules are equipped with seat belts and are designed to be easy to handle. Hop aboard your 4x4 and experience the thrill of being in the breathtaking wilderness. We'll ride for 15 minutes and stop at our lodge where you can enjoy a snack of cookies paired with a cup of coffee or hot chocolate before resuming your drive.

Cascading waterfalls and crystal-clear creeks are just some of the natural beauty to greet you on your way to meadows at the 1,500-foot elevation. Spectacular views of mountains and forests abound, including a panoramic look at the Lynn Canal and Chilkoot Lake - awesome photo opportunities!

On the way down, we'll stop again at the lodge with a warm fire and amazing views for a one-hour lunch. Enjoy a delicious meal of halibut and BBQ chicken, potatoes, fruit salad, coleslaw and cookies. After descending the rest of the trail, board a motor coach and enjoy a vista-filled ride 45 minutes along the Lutak Inlet en route to Skagway.

Accessibility Note:
The Kawasaki Mules are easily accessible and have storage for oxygen tanks and collapsible wheelchairs. Guests must be able to take steps on and off the modes of transportation. Tide conditions can make ramp to dock very steep; guests with limited mobility should keep this in mind.

Guests wishing to drive must be at least 21 years old and bring a valid driver's license. Each mule is shared to accommodate up to four guests but can be extended to five to keep groups together. Vegetarian meal is available. Please notify Tour Office onboard at least 24 hours prior to tour.

Liability waiver is required to be signed in the presence of the tour operator.
