Your tour begins as you board a high-speed catamaran for a scenic 45-minute cruise along North America's longest and deepest fjord to Haines. Along the way, you'll witness spectacular views of waterfalls and ice-sculpted peaks as your guide points out marine wildlife.

Upon arrival in Haines, the towering Cathedral Peaks and Chilkat Mountains provide a scenic backdrop as your bus follows the route of the Chilkat River into the Chilkat Bald Eagle Preserve. Your guide acquaints you with the unique human and natural history of the area as you journey to the Kroschel Wildlife Park.

Steve Kroschel, founder of the center, has a lifetime of experience working with wild animals for movies such as "Never Cry Wolf" and the PBS "Wild America" series. His center provides a home for orphaned and rescued wild animals including a Kodiak bear, moose, wolves, Arctic fox, lynx, porcupine, pine marten, mink, reindeer and wolverines to live out the rest of their natural lives.

This is an interactive wildlife center at Steve's private property, allowing you to touch many of the animals while you learn about their habits and gain an understanding of the time and trust required to train them. The park makes for the best photo opportunity with Alaska animals. Shopping will also be available after the tour if time allows.

Your tour concludes as reboard your bus for the scenic drive back to the Haines, where you'll transfer to the catamaran back to Skagway. A snack will be served to or from the park (meal time appropriate). With Haines behind you, you leave with a myriad of unforgettable memories of a lifetime.

Special Notes:

The trip requires walking a quarter mile on groomed trails, some with gentle slopes. Tide conditions can make ramp to dock very steep, guests with limited mobility not recommended.
