Description

Be sure to read the Special Notes further down this page for important requirements and restriction.

Surrounded by magnificent natural beauty, Skagway holds a unique place in Alaska history. Known as the "Gateway to the Yukon," Skagway played a key role in the Klondike Gold Rush of 1897-1898. Its dramatic history is still alive and your motorcoach tour begins with a scenic drive through the center of town. Sense the excitement and nostalgia around every corner as you drive past boardwalk-lined streets and false-front buildings, through historic downtown.

Journey to the Gold Rush Cemetery to witness the final resting place of some of the more colorful characters of the Klondike Gold Rush. Next, visit The Lookout, a photographer's delight offering a panoramic view of the Skagway Valley, glacier-clad mountains, Lynn Canal and your cruise ship.

By now you've worked up an appetite, and the hearty salmon bake buffet at the Liarsville Gold Rush Trail Camp is sure to tame even the hungriest beast. Savor wild Alaska salmon grilled over an open alder wood fire, baked chicken, a variety of salads, beans, rice pilaf, cornbread and dessert.

So named for the tall tales that journalists reported from the area during the excitement of the Klondike Gold Rush, Liarsville is a recreation of a tent city from 1898, complete with all the fun and excitement of the Gold Rush days. Gather under the Hippodrome, where a cast of sourdoughs and dance hall girls entertain and teach you the art of gold panning. Then you're set free in the Liarsville gold fields, guaranteed to find that precious metal. Once you've made your fortune, wander through the camp and visit the Fancy Goods Gift Shop and other historic buildings.

At the completion of your adventure, you will have the option of returning directly to the ship or you may choose to stay in town and explore Skagway independently.
