Embark on this exhilarating and memorable three-hour kayak adventure along the ruggedly beautiful Alaska coastline.
Your adventure begins at your pier where you will meet your expert guides who will outfit you with quality waterproof gear and a life jacket. Then enjoy a short scenic cruise through the glistening waters of Sitka Sound aboard an inflatable, motorized Seahawk craft. As you journey, your knowledgeable guides will scan for wildlife and points of interest, regaling you with information about this stunning eco-system.
Your destination is a floating kayak base camp tucked away in a picturesque cove. Upon arrival, you will receive safety instruction in which you will learn to maneuver your safe, ocean-going, two-person kayak. These stable yet maneuverable crafts will allow you to enjoy the beauty of the protected bays and inlets near Sitka from a serene, natural perspective.
Cast off in groups of four to six kayaks led by a knowledgeable guide who takes you through tranquil waterways, all the while acquainting you with the spectacular marine environment that surrounds you. Each of these stunningly beautiful waterways holds unique attractions. Paddle through mazes of reef and kelp forest (accessible only by kayak) as your guide helps identify the colorful marine life visible below, including: crab, sea stars, anemones, sea urchins, jelly fish and more.
As you glide gently through the sea past the lush, coastal rainforest of volcanic islands, you will have the opportunity to view the abundant wildlife that makes its home in this pristine eco-system. Soaring eagles, brown bears and Sitka blacktail deer are often spotted. Keep a keen eye out during your journey as you may even spot a spouting whale during migratory season.
Upon your return to your floating base camp, enjoy a complimentary hot beverage and snack of clam chowder and crackers before your scenic return trip to your pier and your Princess ship in the harbor.
