Description

Be sure to read the Special Notes further down this page for important requirements and restriction.

Channel your inner adventurer with this half-day sportfishing adventure in the beautiful waters off Sitka. At the harbor you will board your modern, 24- to 30-foot cabin cruiser that is piloted by a captain with at least 10 years of local fishing experience. Then set out through the glistening Alaska waters for a brief cruise to the fishing grounds in Sitka Sound.

Due to its location on the outer coast, Sitka Sound is a feeding ground for salmon returning to local streams as well as salmon in transit to other locations. Consequently the waters here offer an abundant supply of fish and, according to Alaska Department of Fish & Game, consistently have the best catch rate in the state! Once you've reached your carefully selected destination, the friendly crew will set you up with equipment (all provided). Then toss out your line and spend the next few hours fishing the pristine waters from your comfortable, heated cabin cruiser! Breathe the fresh sea air and take in the awe-inspiring beauty of the Alaska landscape as you try your hand at landing the king, silver, chum and pink salmon teeming in the waters around you. Indulge in complimentary drinks and snacks as you fish!

If you meet with success on your fishing adventure, you may either choose to catch and release or you may have your catch commercially processed and shipped home for an additional charge (U.S. addresses only). Whatever you choose, you will surely come away satisfied with this unique opportunity to fish the waters of one of the most beautiful eco-systems in the world.

Special Notes:

Rubber-soled or deck shoes must be worn on the boat. Boats will carry a maximum of 6 guests. Please remember you are purchasing the opportunity to catch fish, not a guarantee of doing so. All safety equipment and fishing gear is provided.

A fishing license is required and can be purchased onboard your boat for $25 per person. When king salmon is targeted, a $15 per person additional retention tag is required. Children under 16 are not required to purchase a license. Children 5 and under are free.

Trolling with downriggers is the method of fishing used on this excursion. Generally, four rods are placed in holders and lines are lowered to specific depths. Participants do not hold the rods until fish are hooked. Fishermen then take the rod on a rotating basis to land their catch.

Mooching is also common on this excursion. When mooching, the boat may be on anchor or drifting. Each guest holds a rod while working the bait to a depth recommended by the captain. When a fish strikes, the guest plays the fish.

Your catch can be processed and shipped home for an additional charge as arranged by the tour operator. Because of its perishable nature and U.S. Customs regulations, your catch may not be sent outside of the United States in most cases. Due to federal regulations, your catch may not be stored onboard your cruise ship, but may be prepared for dinner onboard.

Unaccompanied Minors Policy: Children under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

Tour timeline may vary to avoid overcrowding, etc.
