Description

Be sure to read the Special Notes further down this page for important requirements and restriction.

Board your comfortable motorcoach and begin your action-packed day at the city's pride and joy, the National Orchid Gardent at the spectacular Singapore Botanic Gardens, a lush 129-acre oasis blooming with exotic flowers, lush jungle and manicured lawns.

The National Orchid Garden is the jewel in the crown, displaying the world's largest collection of orchids in full splendor. It houses over 1,000 species and 2,000 hybrids of orchids. See the "dignitaries," such as Margaret Thatcher, Nelson Mandela, Laura Bush and Princess Diana in the VIP (Very Important Plants) Garden.

You'll enjoy the bright colors in the gardens and the vibrant hues of the newly restored shops in Singapore's exciting Chinatown. Narrow streets centered on the pagoda lead you to a treasure trove of apothecary shops, quaint teahouses, calligraphers happy to demonstrate their art, and a cornucopia of stalls selling trinkets.

Within Chinatown, you'll find the oldest Hindu temple (circa 1827) in Singapore, Sri Mariamman. The focal point of Hindu tradition and culture, this magnificently and elaborately ornamented building is used in festivals and celebrations and contains a shrine dedicated to the goddess Sri Mariamman, known for curing disease.

Next, board a bumboat for a scenic cruise along the Singapore River. Drift past the history of early Singapore showcased in the beautiful colonial architecture, restored riverside warehouses and sculpted bridges, contrasting sharply against the cosmopolitan skyscrapers that loom over the city's financial district.

It's time to meet Singapore's very own tourism mascot, the Merlion, a fountain sculpted with a lion's head and the body of a fish standing guard in the foreground at Merlion Park, paying tribute to Singapore's ancient sea town history. Dominating the Marina Bay waterfront is the fantastic work of visionary architect Moshe Safdie. The Marina Bay Sands, considered the world's most expensive resort casino property, dominates the skyline and Singapore's new financial district.

No tour would be complete without a visit to the grand dame of Singapore, Raffles Hotel. Opened in 1887, the then little bungalow was named after Sir Stamford Raffles, the founder of modern Singapore. Declared a national monument in 1987, it's been lovingly restored and renovated and is one of the city's grandest and most beloved showplaces, frequented by celebrities and royalty. Your brief stop includes time for photos as well as a visit to the gift shop.

RAFFLES HOTEL IS C URRENTLY UNDERGOING RESTORATION HENCE WE WILL DO A DRIVE BY FOR NOW. REOPENING DATE IS TO BE ADVISED – AS AT 1 MAY 2019.

The last stop on this exciting, whirlwind tour is the exotic quarter known as "Little India," where stalls are perfumed with fragrant jasmine garlands and aromatic spices. Merchants offer fresh fruits and vegetables, perfect for an afternoon pick-me-up, and everything from saris and jewelry to intricate ornaments. One of the most popular souvenirs to bring home is a brass oil lamp. Rub it and make a wish…hopefully returning to Singapore again.

After an exhilarating day, your motorcoach will serve as transportation to the airport.
