Settle in for a 2.5-hour drive to Agrigento, once one of the wealthier and more famous cities in the Greek colonies, for exploration on foot of the Valley of Temples, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. A two-hour guided walk is a thrilling opportunity to discover one of the most significant archaeological sites in the world. There are eight different temples built between 510 B.C. and 430 B.C. and various other artifacts and remains. Your tour takes in the Temple of Jupiter (Zeus) built to commemorate the city's victory over Carthage. See Tempio dei Dioscuri, a hex-style temple with only four of its columns remaining. Probably the oldest of the Agrigento temples, and built in the ancient Doric style, is the Temple of Hercules, and the Temple of Concord is the largest, most majestic and best-preserved of the Doric temples in Sicily. Continue on to a local restaurant for lunch before settling back into the motorcoach for the drive to port.

Special Notes:

Travel time to Agrigento is approximately 2½ hours each way. There will be two hours of walking, including free time. Much of the terrain is uneven ground and slightly uphill with steps to negotiate. Wear comfortable, non-skid walking shoes. Not advisable for guests with mobility limitations. Shade is limited; please dress accordingly. Bring a hat and wear sunscreen. Appropriate attire is required at the restaurant.
