Take an in-depth look at a few hidden gems enjoyed by local residents. Princess Cruises has teamed up with farmers who will share their knowledge with you. First, you'll learn how Shimizu Prefecture has the largest number of farmed rainbow trout in the country as you tour the Trout Farm followed by a sampling of the mild, succulent fish. Then, you'll continue on to a wasabi farm. Known in English as Japanese horseradish, this root vegetable is most famous in the grated form of a green paste used as condiment for sashimi and sushi. According to legend, wasabi was born in Shizuoka in the early Edo period and now, Shizuoka produces 80% of all wasabi grown in Japan. Watch how a local farmer grates the wasabi finely so you can taste it. Next, you'll visit Jimba Waterfalls for a sip of its refreshing natural water.
