Get acquainted with the city of Cadiz. Over 3,000 years old, it's the oldest city in southwestern Europe and boasts a rich history dating back before the Common Era. Your walking tour begins as soon as you step off your ship. A short 15-minute walk brings you to the city's center, a colorful mosaic of sounds, smells and sights. Your first stop is the Town Hall or Ayuntamiento. Built in two stages, in 1799 and 1861, it is a prime example of neoclassical architecture. After your visit, you'll walk to the Cadiz Cathedral. Constructed with gold and silver brought from the New World - its golden dome towering over the Baroque-style building, which is enhanced with neoclassic elements. Begun in 1722, the Cathedral recalls the golden age of Cádiz, when the city controlled a large part of Spanish commerce with the America
After the visit enjoy another brief stop for some refreshments, before coming back to the pier.

Special Notes:

Wear comfortable walking shoes. The order of the tour may be change, as the Town Hall can be visited until 12.30pm only.
The visit to the Town Hall can be cancelled due to Government meetings.

In case the access to the Cathedral is not allowed due to religious services, you will visit the Tavira Tower, instead.

The Torre Tavira is a watchtower and the tallest point in the city of Cadiz, located 45 meters above sea level. It is situated in the Casa-Palacio de los Marqueses de Recaño (currently the Conservatory of Music of Cadiz) and was built in the Baroque style in the 18th century. It was designated as the official watchtower of the Cadiz port in 1778 because it had the highest elevation, and was named after its first watchman, Lieutenant Frigate D. Antonio Tavira.
Currently, it houses the Camera Obscura, one of the most symbolic tourist attractions in the city of Cadiz, as well as two exhibition halls and a viewpoint, from which the entire historic city center can be admired.
