WHAT YOU VISIT
Basilica of Bonaire
Built between 1324 and 1326, the Gothic church complex has been a pilgrimage site since, it's believed, that a statue of the Virgin Mary and Christ that saved a ship's crew during a storm in the 14th century. To this day, the statue, known as Nostra Signora di Bonaria, is the city's patron saint of sailors and seafarers. Set in front of the building is a beautifully decorated stone courtyard complete with mosaic patterned tiles.

PHOTO OPPORTUNITY
Have your camera ready for the stunning views from Monte Urpino. From this unique vantage point, you'll see Cagliari, the Gulf of Angels, the salt ponds and the Molentargius Lagoon, a safe harbor to the splendid pink flamingos.

SNACKS
Enjoy a visit to a local winery where you can sample three wines accompanied by pecorino cheese, Sardinian sausage and "pane carasau" (Sardinian bread).

WHAT YOU SEE ALONG THE WAY
As you make your way to the Basilica, it's interesting to note that during the times of the Roman Empire, Cagliari was an important military base under the rule of Titus Manlius.

Limited shops will be open on Sundays. There is approximately 1 hour of total walking on this tour. This tour is not suitable for passengers using wheelchairs or scooters, or with walking difficulties.
