Savor the flavors of the island on a six-hour adventure that showcases both Santorini's scenic splendor and its traditional gastronomy.

Tender ashore and board a comfortable motorcoach to begin your ascent of the dramatic, rocky caldera wall. Outside your window, the breathtaking panoramic views inspire as you climb. Along the way, your guide will point out the different layers of volcanic lava produced at various phases of the volcano's activity.

At the summit, you'll head north through traditional villages to your destination, Oia.

Pronounced "Eee-ah," the village is perched high atop the cliffs of Santorini's northern terminus. Known for its quiet beauty and spectacular sunsets, this spot boasts amazing views of neighboring volcanoes. Stroll through the narrow, cobblestone lanes, view the brilliantly whitewashed buildings, shops, sun-bathed cafés and blue-domed churches. The natural beauty and tranquility of Oia's landscape has inspired artists from around the world, and numerous galleries can be found in the area.

Commence a guided walking tour through the cobblestone streets of Oia, admiring the world-famous Cycladic architecture and the beautiful old mansions perched cliff-side. Be sure to stop to snap photographs of the surrounding Cycladic isles and the magnificent views of the caldera.

Continue on to one of the island's leading wineries to learn the history of wine production on the island, which dates back as far as 1700 B.C. Assyrtiko grapes are the leading variety grown, as they thrive in the rich, volcanic soil and microclimate. White wines produced here have an appealing citrus aroma, and the dessert wines, barrel-aged for a minimum of two years, and are celebrated for their smooth palate and honey color. A tasting introduces you to some of the varieties and is accompanied by traditional nibbles.

Proceed on a picturesque drive to the Akrotiri area, where you'll stop at the renowned Aeolos Taverna. Upon arrival, you will be greeted with a chilled glass of wine or ouzo, Greece's national drink - a licorice-infused liqueur - and a sampling of local Santorinian specialties. Settle in for a cooking demonstration by the establishment's master chef, highlighting local ingredients and unforgettable techniques that you will no doubt want to mimic back at home. After the demonstration, enjoy the chef's creations in the form of a superb lunch.

At the conclusion of the tour, reboard your motorcoach for the drive back to the town of Santorini and the pier. If you choose to remain in town to explore and shop independently, you must return to the ship on your own. It's just a three-minute walk to the cable car that will take you back down to the pier and your waiting ship.
