A palm-fringed beach of golden sand set against a backdrop of ancient mountains covered in cacti is definitely a sight worth seeing. Stretching out for almost a mile, Las Teresitas is an unspoiled paradise considered to be the quintessential vacationer's retreat. All you have to do is wear a bathing suit, bring a towel, sunglasses, a hat, comfortable shoes and adequate sunscreen. Since this is a transfer, you have the flexibility of a three-hour or five-hour stay; at the designated time, you'll meet with your escort for the return transfer to the ship.

After boarding the air-conditioned motorcoach, it's just a short ride to what many consider Tenerife's most spectacular beach. You'll understand why it's earned this reputation the moment you disembark. Its crescent-shaped, lagoon-like bay is a picture-perfect beach that would rival any in the Caribbean. Unlike many of the black sand beaches you'll find in Tenerife, the sand here is golden courtesy of 270,000 tons of sand shipped in from the Sahara Desert. The beach has all the facilities you're accustomed to such as public showers, changing rooms and toilets.

Once off the motorcoach you can set your own itinerary. First, you may wish to indulge in a relaxing swim in the shimmering aquamarine sea. Even novice swimmers will enjoy getting their feet wet. This is not a surf beach; in fact, the water here is known for its gentle waves, thanks to the artificial reef designed to protect the swimmers from dangerous currents. If you prefer to snorkel, you'll be rewarded with a sea full of colorful, tropical fish while, back on shore, you can join in a volleyball game. Or, you may prefer to lounge under an umbrella with a drink or bask in the sun on a sun bed (all available for a fee).

Hungry? Then take a stroll to the top of Playa de Las Teresitas and grab a bite at one of the many beach cafés and tapas bars.

Clinging to the steep hillside at the foot of the Anage Mountains, the nearby village of San Andrés also has a number of seafood restaurants, as well as an interesting history as one of the oldest villages in the Canary Islands. Founded around 1497, the town is famous for the discovery of the Mummy of San Andrés, the well-preserved body of a Guanche, one of Tenerife's indigenous peoples.

To complete your adventure, you'll re-join your motorcoach for the scenic drive along sun-dappled beaches to your waiting ship at the pier.
