WHAT YOU VISIT
Solvang
Founded in 1911 by Danes who wanted to leave harsh Midwestern winters behind, Solvang is a quaint Danish-themed town acclaimed for its beautiful Danish style architecture and facades. Many of the founder's descendants own shops and restaurants around the town. On arrival, your exploration starts with a guided, interpreted (in Japanese) walking tour that will help you locate and understand the key sights and historical landmarks of the town. Following the tour, you'll have an hour to explore on your own.

PHOTO OPPORTUNITY
Everywhere you look you'll find beautiful and typically postcard-perfect Danish sights. There's even a Dutch windmill in the middle of town! Upon further exploration you'll even encounter a replica of the famous Little Mermaid statute from Copenhagen as well as a bust of famed Danish fable writer Hans Christian Andersen.

LUNCH
Throughout Solvang are restaurants that sell Danish delicacies, such as "aebleskivers" (pancake balls with berry jam) and "medisterpolse" (Danish sausage).

SHOPPING
Solvang boasts over 150 shops and boutiques selling a wide variety of souvenirs, clothing, books, handmade gifts and more.

WHAT YOU SEE ALONG THE WAY
The 50-minute drive from the pier takes you through spectacular scenery that showcases both the central California coast and the lovely Santa Ynez Valley.
