Japanese Tea Garden
Originally created as a "Japanese Village" exhibit for the 1894 California Midwinter International Exposition, the three-acre site sits within Golden State Park, home to over 1,000 acres of museums, meandering paths, green expanses, and the Japanese Tea Garden. Enjoy two hours to discover the garden's drum bridge, pagodas, stone lanterns, stepping stone paths, native Japanese plants, serene koi ponds, Zen garden and rock garden that's embellished with Japanese maples, pines, cypresses and flowering cherry trees, azaleas, magnolias, and camellias.

There are memorable sights around every corner but be sure to point your lens at the Tea House, which is surrounded by Japanese azaleas and bonsai trees; the Treasure Tower, a five-storied Buddhist shrine; and the Taiko Bashi, a highly arched pedestrian drum bridge.

Enjoy a meditative cup of matcha, a finely milled or powdered green tea paired with popular confections or wagashi.
