Located on the southwest corner of California next to the border of Mexico, San Diego is a land of endless sunshine, pristine sand beaches and glistening blue Pacific waters. Home to the Kumeyaay Indians for 10,000 years then claimed for Spain by Juan Cabrillo who landed here in 1542 - it is rich with history and culture.

You will have the opportunity to sample the highlights of this lively and lovely city during this four-hour guided excursion that begins at your pier. Step aboard a comfortable, air-conditioned motorcoach and set out for a drive through the historic district of San Diego and then continue on to La Jolla.

As you journey, your friendly and knowledgeable guide will regale you with tales and information about the sights you encounter. Enjoy views of the Embarcadero, a bustling boardwalk located along the downtown waterfront. See the charming Seaport Village, a collection of shops and restaurants nestled against the sparkling San Diego Bay.

You will travel past downtown San Diego and the Convention Center before continuing your scenic drive along azure coastal waters to the stunning seaside village of La Jolla, considered the "Jewel of Southern California." Boasting some of California's most gorgeous and majestic coastline, this affluent, hilly seaside resort community features boutique-lined streets, fine restaurants, art galleries and spectacular water-colored sunsets. Take in the city's graceful beauty with a photo stop and keep a keen eye out for sea lions that are known to frolic in the waters here!

You will reboard your motorcoach for a scenic drive back to San Diego. But the fun isn't over yet. You will enjoy a stop in San Diego's "Old Town", where there are plenty of shops and wonderful restaurants. Considered the birthplace of California, this historic district was the site of the first Spanish settlement in California in 1769. Today it offers the finest in theater, galleries and shops as well as free live entertainment, mariachis, dancers and period attire docents providing tours.

Finally, you will enjoy a brief stop at the magnificent 1200-acre Balboa Park, the nation's largest urban cultural park which is home to 15 major museums, renowned performing arts venues, beautiful gardens and the world famous San Diego Zoo.

As your day of discovery comes to a close, you may choose to head back to your pier or be dropped off near Horton Plaza, an array of shops and eateries located in the Gaslamp district downtown. Should you choose to continue your exploration, you will be responsible for transportation back to your Princess ship.
