Board your air-conditioned transportation for a guided drive to the rugged, undeveloped East End area. Your guide will entertain you with the history of Roatan and explain its unique local culture. You will learn about the abundant foliage and herbal plants indigenous to Roatan that are used for therapeutic and medicinal purposes. As you travel along the central ridge of the island, gaze out the window at the beautiful scenery, turquoise waters and coral reefs.

You will then participate in a cultural presentation unlike any you've ever seen. Travel to Yubu, the Garifuna Village, and meet members of the Garifuna tribe, descendants of Black Carib Indians who settled here in 1797. Enjoy a performance of music and dance that stays true to Garifuna heritage. The tribe has maintained its lifestyle, culture and language to this day, and you will have an opportunity to learn a few greetings in the native language as well as taste some of their local treats. You will also enjoy a shopping stop and other surprises along the way.

At the completion of your excursion, enjoy a scenic drive past dramatic vistas en route to the pier.
