What You Will Visit:
Thingvellir National Park / Silfra Tectonic Fissure
This UNESCO designated national park is noted for its history, unique geology and natural features. Originally used as the venue for the first Viking parliament in 930 A.D., the park is home to Iceland's largest natural lake and the Silfra tectonic fissure. This freshwater cleft between two continents makes it possible to float between, and even touch, the American and Eurasian continental plates. Renowned for its spectacular recreational accessibility and some of the cleanest water in the world due to its the source, the Langjökull glacier, the park offers visibility of over 100 meters with exceptional views of its lava rock, algae and marine ecosystem. It is an unparalleled opportunity for underwater shutterbugs!
