Barrio Bistro/Tequila Tasting:
Tequila's legacy goes far beyond the margarita. Two thousand years ago, the Aztec people in ritual ceremonies used a fermented spirit made from the agave plant. The Spanish conquistadors took a liking to it and began to distill agave themselves. In the 16th century, the town of Tequila became the most well-known producer, and the drink's reputation spread throughout Mexico. In the 1800s, tequila was imported to the United States, and its popularity grew.
What you will see along the way:
Puerto Vallarta blooms with artistic color and Mexico's warm charm. Known for its varied architecture, sparkling beaches and festive atmosphere, it welcomes you with an easy mix of man-made sights and natural beauty. A city driving tour introduces the highlights.
Snack/Tasting:
Barrio Bistro's chef Memo Wulff will be serving his own raicilla, Arre, along with some raicilla infusions and the local tequila, Doña Engracia, not found in the United States, during an informative tasting session. Along with the spirit tasting, Chef Memo will serve creative cocktails paired with regional foods for an unforgettable taste of Puerto Vallarta. Stops on this tour were hand-selected by Bill Esparza, a James Beard award winner and leading expert on Latin American cuisine.
