Description

Be sure to read the Special Notes further down this page for important requirements and restriction.

The wild and beautiful Aysén Region is home to some of Chile's most spectacular scenery. It may be hard to believe that tens of thousands of years ago the entire area was once covered in ice. Through the eons massive glaciers carved out the present landscape, which is pockmarked with lakes, channels, fjords and forests, boasting one jaw-dropping photo opportunity after another.

Long considered Chile's "last frontier" you can imagine how the first explorers must have felt as they discovered this spectacular land centuries ago. Many of those early settlers stayed and established cattle, sheep and horse farms.

And today, you can admire Mother Nature's handiwork for yourself with a visit to a horse farm and ride the range just like the pioneers during a four-hour excursion that begins as soon as you board your coach at the pier.

The hour-long ride allows ample time to sit back, relax and watch the picturesque world pass by your window as you follow a meandering river along the base of a deep rocky gorge.

And tucked amid the splendor of this astonishing landscape is a small farm where horses will be waiting your arrival.

After you arrive at the farm, you'll be greeted by an experienced instructor/guide who will conduct a brief orientation and demonstrate a quick lesson. You may be saddled up with a Chilean Corralero, the oldest registered horse breed in South America and the oldest registered stock horse breed in the Western Hemisphere. Each horse is gentle and will be matched with the rider's skill level and experience (riding experience is not required).

Next, you'll don your riding gear, mount your horse and set out on an approximately two-hour ride at a set pace. But this isn't just about horseback riding; it's about seeing this majestic country at a slower pace and soaking up Chile's "final frontier." The Aysén Region was the last area in the country to be explored and settled. Even today, towns are few and far between and roads are nonexistent.

At the end of your ride you'll head back at the farmhouse where you'll meet your hosts and relax by the fireside with a snack and a glass of wine and share tales of your day with the farm's owners.

Then, at the end of your adventure you'll board your coach and return to the pier enlightened and charmed by this unforgettable experience.
